Yobe's AGILE Initiative to Launch 50 New Schools for Girls

Abdullahi Dahiru Bulah, the Project Coordinator of AGILE in Yobe, announced plans to establish 50 new secondary schools to enhance girls' education during the onboarding of local government facilitators and mobilisers. The initiative aims to help more girls complete secondary education and acquire skills for economic independence.

AGILE's project includes three components: providing safe and quality education, creating an enabling environment for girls to remain in school, and strengthening the education system. Currently, 104 schools are being rehabilitated, with preparations for another 121 schools.

Additionally, 875 desktop computers have been procured for 35 secondary schools, each receiving 25 computers, solar power, internet facilities, and teacher training. Conditional cash transfers are being provided to girls transitioning between educational levels, linked to school attendance.

Mu’azu Alhaji Modu, CEO of STAI, stated that his organization would lead social and behavioral change communication to address cultural barriers to girls' education, with a pilot phase in seven local government areas.
