Yomi Fabiyi Accuses Baba Ijesha of Betrayal Post-Release

Yomi Fabiyi, an actor and activist, has publicly accused his colleague, Baba Ijesha, of betrayal after Baba Ijesha's release from prison on November 2025. Baba Ijesha had been serving part of a 16-year sentence handed down by the Ikeja Special Offences Court in July 2022 for sexual assault.

Fabiyi, who previously led protests and produced a controversial film in defense of Baba Ijesha during the trial, expressed that he suffered significant professional setbacks while trying to prove Baba Ijesha's innocence. He claimed that despite his efforts, he felt betrayed by Baba Ijesha, who allegedly went behind his back to threaten others involved in the case.

Fabiyi stated that he had laid down his life to support Baba Ijesha and was deeply affected by the situation. He also criticized the involvement of state custodians of human rights, asserting that they did not adequately celebrate the fight against rape.

Following Baba Ijesha's release, the Lagos State government clarified that he remains on the state's sex offender registry.
