Yoruba leaders seek Makinde, Adeleke’s intervention over Alaafin/Ooni rift

Yoruba leaders from the South West region are calling on Governors Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke to intervene in the ongoing supremacy battle between the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Akeem Owoade, and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi. The leaders, under the auspices of Yoruba Leaders Thought Egbe Ilosiwaju Yoruba, believe that the intervention of these prominent leaders would prevent the situation from escalating into a crisis.

They expressed concern over the damage caused by the rift, emphasizing the need for unity and pride among the Yoruba people. The group urged the traditional rulers to set aside personal interests and work towards the development and peace of the region.

They also called for a ceasefire and the utilization of existing protocols to prevent similar conflicts in the future.
