Lagos Resident Trapped Indoors by Severe Flooding, Government Vows Action

Enioluwa, a Lagos resident, expressed frustration over being trapped indoors due to severe flooding in prime locations like Maryland, Lekki, and Ikorodu. The heavy rainfall caused streets to flood quickly, affecting many parts of Lagos, including Ago Palace Way and Mile 2.

The Lagos State Government attributed the flooding to factors like heavy rainfall, tidal lock, and illegal structures blocking drainage systems. Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab acknowledged technical issues in the drainage network, promising stricter enforcement of environmental laws and demolition of obstructive structures.

Residents were seen wading through floodwaters as roads became impassable, causing damage to homes and businesses.
