Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Discloses 3,000 Displaced by Flooding

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu revealed that over 3,000 residents were displaced and many others affected by flooding incidents in Lagos from January to October 2025. The governor emphasized the need for stronger collaboration to build flood resilience and protect lives and livelihoods in the coastal megacity facing environmental challenges.

The state government has implemented proactive measures such as urban planning, infrastructure development, affordable housing, and climate adaptation strategies to address the issue. Flooding remains a significant environmental threat in Lagos, causing massive destruction and displacing residents from their homes.
