While her co-star Bimbo Akintola received a nomination for Best Lead Actress, Afegbai felt her character, Idia, from the trending series "Kill Monkei," deserved recognition.

She publicly criticized the AMVCA organization, stating, "You can eat your award," and expressed her indifference towards the snub, asserting that she believes everything happens for a reason. Afegbai emphasized that the truth is clear, and she does not need a nomination to validate her work.
