Wike Reveals New Election Strategy for 2027 Polls

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), announced a new strategy to counter opposition parties in the upcoming 2027 election, although he did not disclose specific details. This statement followed his inspection tour of various infrastructure projects in the FCT.

Wike dismissed allegations of rigging during the 2023 presidential election, asserting that the G5 bloc of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had a calculated strategy to deny votes to Atiku Abubakar from the South-South region, which is traditionally a PDP stronghold. He claimed that if the region had voted along party lines, Atiku would have won the election.

Wike stated that the real threat to their political interests was Atiku, not Peter Obi, and emphasized that elections cannot be rigged where a politician lacks popularity, as the populace would resist such actions. He challenged anyone to provide evidence of Labour Party victories in Rivers State, asserting that no such evidence was presented at the tribunal.
