Tinubu Lauds EFCC's Anti-Corruption Achievements in Anambra

On October 3, President Bola Tinubu commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its efforts in combating economic and financial crimes during the commissioning of a new Zonal Directorate in Awka, Anambra State. Represented by Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas, Tinubu stated that the EFCC has justified the confidence his administration placed in it, citing significant achievements in securing convictions and recovering assets.
He noted that the Commission's work aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in economic reform and good governance. EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede reported that from October 2023 to July 2026, the EFCC received 49,673 petitions, investigated 39,615 cases, and filed 14,476 cases in court, resulting in 10,872 convictions, a 75.1% conviction-to-filing ratio.
In the first half of 2026, the EFCC secured 1,370 convictions from 1,889 filings and recovered substantial amounts in various currencies, attributing progress to recent institutional reforms.
