The Northern APC Peace Agenda issued a statement on Wednesday, commending Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal and his predecessor Bello Matawalle for their political reconciliation, which is viewed as a crucial development for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state as it prepares for the 2027 elections. Alhaji Rabiu Ahmad, the group's president, highlighted Matawalle's decision to forgo his governorship ambitions in support of Lawal, reflecting political maturity and a commitment to unity within the party.

Matawalle, currently serving as the Minister of State for Defence, publicly declared his support for Lawal during a high-profile reception that marked Lawal's defection from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC. This realignment is expected to reshape Zamfara's political landscape and enhance the APC's electoral strategy in the North West region.
