Zamfara State Reports New Polio Outbreak, Six Cases Confirmed

The Zamfara State Government has confirmed a new outbreak of polio, with six cases identified in the local government areas of Gummi, Tsafe, Maru, and Bakura. This announcement was made on Friday during a press conference by Dr.

Hussaini Yakubu Anka, representing the Primary Health Care Board. In response to the outbreak, the state government has set a target to vaccinate 1.6 million children during a campaign drive that will cover 14 local government areas.

The vaccination campaign aims to ensure that children receive the necessary immunization against polio. The board has assured that it will collaborate with development partners to ensure proper monitoring and success of the vaccination exercise.
