Zamfara Workers Protest N7M Auction of N100M Equipment

Workers at Legacy Suda Newspaper in Zamfara State have expressed outrage over the secret auction of the company's printing equipment, originally procured for N100 million during the administration of former Governor Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi in 2008. The equipment, essential for the operation of the newspaper, was sold for a mere N7 million, leading to the shutdown of the printing press and leaving 150 employees uncertain about their future.

Staff members, who spoke anonymously, alleged that the management conducted the auction without following due process and without consulting relevant stakeholders. They have appealed to the current Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, to intervene and prevent the collapse of the company.

The auction has raised significant concerns regarding transparency and the fate of the employees, who are now left in limbo due to the abrupt decision.
