Zenith Bank Celebrates Women's Empowerment on International Day

Zenith Bank PLC organized an event in Lagos on International Women’s Day, focusing on women's empowerment and the importance of creating opportunities for women across various industries. The seminar, led by Dr.

Adaora Umeoji, the Group Managing Director and CEO, emphasized the need for intentional actions to ensure women are not merely included but empowered to shape their futures. Umeoji noted that the current gender gap in Nigeria is 64.9%, with a significant 35.1% needing urgent attention.

She referenced reports from the World Economic Forum and McKinsey Global Institute, which indicate that closing the gender gap could boost Nigeria's GDP by approximately 19%, translating to an additional $90 billion in value. The event aimed to inspire women to lead boldly and highlighted the critical role women play in the economy, with an estimated 53 million women in Nigeria contributing significantly to various sectors.
