Protest in Kano Over Bandit Attacks Leaves One Dead

On a Sunday morning around 8 AM, residents in Gwarzo, Kano, protested against ongoing bandit attacks that have plagued their community, resulting in cattle rustling and kidnappings. The protest, led by local resident Zayyanu Rabiu, involved blocking the Kano-Gwarzo-Dayi road and burning tires to demand government intervention.

Tensions escalated as protesters pelted police vehicles with stones, prompting police to use tear gas to disperse the crowd. The situation intensified when protesters invaded the local government secretariat, setting the chairman's office ablaze.

Following the unrest, additional security personnel were deployed to the area, and calm was eventually restored. Efforts to obtain an official response from the Nigeria Police Force, specifically from CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, were unsuccessful at the time of the report.

Gwarzo has recently experienced repeated bandit attacks, which have resulted in fatalities and kidnappings.
