Rwanda Bans Import and Export of Ten Goods Categories

The Rwandan government has released a list of ten categories of goods that individuals and foreign nationals are prohibited from importing or exporting. This ban includes false and counterfeit currency notes, adult materials in all forms, matches made with white phosphorus, and any articles produced without proper authority.

Additionally, distilled beverages containing essential oils or chemical products, narcotic drugs under international control, hazardous wastes, soaps and cosmetics containing mercury, used tyres for light commercial vehicles and passenger cars, and all types of counterfeit goods are also banned. The prohibitions aim to address risks related to financial fraud, public health, and environmental safety.

Counterfeit currency and unauthorized goods are barred to protect market integrity, while health-related bans focus on mercury-containing products and narcotics. Environmental protections are reflected in the restrictions on hazardous waste and used tyres, and food safety concerns are addressed through the ban on certain distilled beverages.
