Mahmood Yakubu's Decade at INEC: Reforms, Growth, and Historic Achievements

Professor Mahmood Yakubu completed a decade as the Chairman of Nigeria's Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), making history as the first to serve two full terms from 2015 to 2025. During his tenure, Yakubu introduced significant reforms such as the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV) to enhance voter authentication and result transparency.

Under his leadership, Nigeria's voter register grew to over 93 million, the largest in Africa. Yakubu also implemented a flexible continuous registration process, allowing Nigerians to register and update their details seamlessly.

His stewardship marked a period of innovation and growth in the country's election management system.
