U.S. Military Personnel Arrive in Nigeria for Training

On a recent Monday, Major General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information, announced the arrival of 100 U.S. military personnel at Bauchi Airfield in Nigeria. This deployment follows a formal request from the Nigerian government and is part of a broader plan to support military training and technical assistance, as well as intelligence sharing.

The U.S. personnel, who are technical specialists, will serve strictly in an advisory capacity and will not engage in combat training activities. Their operations will be conducted under the direct control of the Nigerian government and in close coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces.

The collaboration aims to provide Nigeria with special technical capabilities to improve its ability to deter terrorist threats and enhance the protection of vulnerable communities across the country. Major General Uba also noted that Nigerian troops will visit the U.S. for advisory training, with a focus on joint intelligence operations to strengthen operational effectiveness.
