100 U.S. Troops Arrive in Bauchi to Support Nigerian Forces

The Defence Headquarters announced the arrival of around 100 U.S. non-combat military personnel at Bauchi Airfield to support the Nigerian Armed Forces in training and intelligence gathering. Major General Samaila Uba explained that this deployment was made at the request of the federal government and is part of a formal engagement between Nigerian and U.S. defense officials.

The presence of U.S. personnel aims to address clearly defined military training requirements and provide technical support and intelligence sharing. Uba emphasized that the collaboration will grant Nigeria access to special technical capabilities, enhancing efforts to deter terrorist threats and protect vulnerable communities.

The U.S. personnel will serve strictly in an advisory and training capacity, under the direct control of the Nigerian government, and in close coordination with the Nigerian Armed Forces. The joint training engagements will focus on enhancing operational capacity to degrade and defeat terrorist organizations threatening Nigeria's sovereignty and national security.
