Jigawa State Secures $10M Poultry Deal with India

The Jigawa state Commissioner for Livestock Development, Professor Salim Abdurrahman Lawal, announced a significant $10 million investment deal with India's Srinivasa Poultry Farms, which he described as the administration's greatest achievement. This agreement aims to alleviate the persistent challenges faced by poultry farmers in Jigawa, particularly the high costs and unreliable supply of day-old chicks.
During a joint press conference in Dutse, Lawal explained that chicks are currently transported over 1,200km to 1,500km from production centers in Southern Nigeria, negatively impacting their condition and feeding response. The new hatchery proposed in Jigawa will reduce transportation distances to approximately 150km and will include delivery facilities, youth involvement, and a state support scheme for farmers.
Mr. Senthil Kumar Krishnan, Vice President of Srinivasa Farms, stated that the joint venture will empower rural communities and enhance poultry production through technical support and quality products.
