BATN Foundation Supports 200 Women in Jigawa with Poultry

The BATN Foundation has empowered 200 women in Jigawa State through its EMPOWER-Her Poultry Project, which provides poultry birds, feed, and medication to enhance household income and food security. This initiative, launched in Dutse on September 4, 2026, aims to equip women in rural communities with the necessary skills and assets to establish sustainable poultry businesses.

The project is implemented in collaboration with the Jigawa State Government and development partners. Adetola Oniyelu, Project Manager of BATN Foundation, stated that the initiative goes beyond merely distributing agricultural inputs; it focuses on creating opportunities for women to build productive businesses and contribute to household food security.

The beneficiaries received Noiler birds, poultry feed, and medication, along with practical training to manage their poultry enterprises. Government officials, including Muttaka Namadi (Commissioner for Agriculture), Hadiza Abdulwahab (Commissioner for Women Affairs), and Auwalu Ado Shehu (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture), encouraged the women to treat the poultry as productive assets and manage their businesses sustainably.
