11 Killed in Attack on Plateau Community Amid Violence

On Friday, a violent attack in the Zongo community of Kwall District, Bassa Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals. The assault, which occurred around midnight, involved gunmen who invaded the community, shooting sporadically and using machetes.

Several residents sustained varying degrees of injuries, and families fled into nearby bushes to escape the violence. Community member Mr.

Philip Alanga reported that the attackers moved from house to house, causing panic among residents. Among the victims were three pregnant women.

Mr. Danjuma Auta, Secretary General of the Irigw Development Association, condemned the tragic incident and urged security agencies to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable rural populations.

The Chairman of Bassa LGA, Mr. Joshua Riti, expressed deep concern over the resurgence of violence and called for strengthened security measures, especially with the farming season approaching, as residents fear returning home to their farms.
