Gunmen Kill Eight in Plateau State Village Attack

On Thursday night, gunmen invaded Mbwell Village in Bokko Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of at least eight individuals, including Iliya Mangut Daku and several members of the Daku family. The attack, which occurred around 11 PM, left three others injured.

Kefa Mallai, the chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokko LGA, confirmed the fatalities. Local youth leader Christoph Luka described the incident as a devastating assault, highlighting the community's frustration over the absence of security personnel during the attack.

Despite the proximity of security forces, there was no response until the attackers had left. This incident is part of a broader pattern of violence in the region, with recent ambushes targeting residents and raising concerns about the safety of farmers and miners traveling rural roads.

The Plateau State Police Command and the Joint Military Taskforce were contacted for comments but did not respond immediately.
