₦117 Billion Allegedly Misappropriated Under Former Sokoto Governor, Panel Reveals

The Sokoto State Government received a report from a judicial commission of inquiry stating that ₦117 billion was allegedly misappropriated during the eight-year tenure of former Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. The panel, chaired by retired Justice Mu'azu Abdulkadir Pindiga, uncovered widespread financial irregularities, including a disregard for procurement laws, weak financial controls, and abuse of executive authority by the previous administration.

The report, divided into five sections, covered background information, testimonies, findings, recommendations, and conclusions. The commission scrutinized documents, contracts, financial records, and testimonies from relevant ministries, departments, agencies, and stakeholders.

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Aliyu, assured that the process would be handled sincerely and fairly without political vendetta. The panel's findings are expected to guide government actions in addressing the alleged corruption.
