Chibok Girls to Graduate from American University of Nigeria

Twelve Chibok girls, who were abducted by Boko Haram militants in 2014, are set to graduate from the American University of Nigeria (AUN) in Yola next Saturday. This graduation is described by AUN President Prof.

The girls, who were held captive in the Sambisa Forest, symbolize academic achievement and the indomitable human spirit. Prof.

Frazier addressed journalists at the university campus, emphasizing that the graduation reflects AUN's mission to develop the university and demonstrate that trauma can be bridged by high-level academic success. The abduction of 276 female students from Chibok on April 14, 2014, led to the global #BringBackOurGirls campaign, which drew widespread attention and pressure on the Nigerian government and security agencies for the release of the missing girls.

As of early 2026, 80 to 91 Chibok girls remain unaccounted for.
