Nigeria Graduates 744 from Operation Safe Corridor Program

On April 16, 2026, the Nigerian government graduated 744 individuals from the Operation Safe Corridor program, which focuses on the rehabilitation and reintegration of low-risk victims of violent extremism. The ceremony was held at the DRR Camp in Gombe State.

Since its launch in 2016, the program has aimed to reintegrate individuals disengaged from insurgent groups back into society. Of the 744 graduates, 597 are from Borno State, 58 from Yobe, and others from Adamawa, Bauchi, Kano, Ebonyi, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Kogi, Plateau, Sokoto, Niger, and Nasarawa states, including eight foreign nationals.

Chief of Defence Staff General Olufemi Oluyede highlighted that the program is not an amnesty initiative but a complementary strategy to reduce recidivism and weaken extremist ideologies. He urged graduates to embrace peace and contribute positively to society.

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya cautioned graduates to honor the trust placed in them and become responsible citizens.
