Tinubu Claims 13,543 Terrorists Neutralized in Nigeria

During a national address on June 12, 2026, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated that the Nigerian Armed Forces, in collaboration with the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), have successfully neutralized 13,543 terrorists between May 2023 and February 2025. This figure represents a cumulative total from a sustained military campaign against insurgency, highlighting significant achievements in disarmament and community resettlement.

The president issued an ultimatum to remaining criminal elements to surrender or face the full force of the state. The military's operations have also resulted in the arrest of 1,359 suspects and the rescue of 813 kidnapped victims.

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Idris Malagi, confirmed these figures, which reflect the administration's defense strategy's impact since its inception. The ongoing operations aim to stabilize regions affected by conflict and enhance national security.
