15 Confirmed Dead in Kwara Auto Crash on Jebba Expressway

On Monday, a fatal auto crash occurred at 2:32 AM in the Muslim cemetery area along the Ogbomoso-Oko Olowo corridor of the Ilorin-Jebba Expressway, Kwara. The incident involved a lone DAF XF truck with registration number GWL 274 XC.

According to Mr. Kabir Kazeem, the Kwara sector command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, 15 individuals were confirmed dead, while 17 others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Sixteen people escaped unhurt. The crash has been attributed to driver fatigue, with victims suffering from fractures, dislocations, and bruises.

Injured individuals were taken to Arewa Medical Centre and Baki Hospital for treatment. The bodies of the deceased were handed over to their families.

Kazeem mentioned that search operations were ongoing to rescue any additional victims trapped beneath the vehicle's load. The Federal Road Safety Corps has intensified public enlightenment efforts, advising motorists to avoid mixing loads, night travel, and driving while fatigued.
