169 Proposals Submitted for NASENI Research Grant

The NASENI Research Commercialisation Grant Programme (NRCGP) has received 169 proposals from various Nigerian institutions, including universities, polytechnics, and research institutes across the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. The initiative, aimed at bridging the gap between research and industry, seeks to identify innovative research with strong commercial potential.
Ms. Joy Elugbe, the Team Lead of the NRCGP and Deputy Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, stated that 21 professors were engaged to evaluate the originality and technical quality of the proposals.
After a preliminary screening, the number was reduced to 49, which were then assessed for commercial viability. Ultimately, 12 proposals, two from each geopolitical zone, advanced to the due diligence stage.
The final selection will yield six grant beneficiaries. The initiative, led by Mr.
Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NASENI, aims to invest in innovations that can generate economic value, create jobs, and contribute to Nigeria's industrial development.
