17 Suspects Arrested for Cultism in Abia State

The Abia State Police Command announced the arrest of 17 male suspects aged between 18 and 28 for cultism-related activities. This disclosure was made by the State Commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa, in a statement released on Wednesday.

The arrests were part of an operation aimed at combating a recent surge in cult-related violence in the state, which included incidents where young men were attacked and killed by suspected cultists. The police recovered five shotguns, three live ammunition, 13 mobile phones of various makes, two cutlasses, an axe, and a black beret during the operation.

The suspects were apprehended at various meeting points while en route to commit further crimes. The police assured residents that there would be no hiding place for cultism and criminal activities in the state.

They also urged the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station as part of ongoing efforts to curb cult-related violence.
