JONAPWD Confirms Release of Two Abducted Blind Persons
Two blind persons who were kidnapped on Monday night while returning to Jos have regained their freedom. Their abductors had demanded a ransom of N50 million.
Shindol Aaron, the chairman of the Plateau State chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), confirmed their release in a telephone interview, stating that they were freed on Wednesday night. Aaron mentioned that he spoke with the brothers who went to pick them up, and they confirmed that the victims were already in a vehicle heading into town.
The victims were released between 9 PM and 10 PM after spending time in the custody of their abductors. Aaron also noted that the culprits had been apprehended by security personnel.
The victims were among nine individuals traveling to attend a training program in Benue State but turned back around Akwaga after learning that the program had been rescheduled. Seven other occupants of the vehicle reportedly escaped during the attack.
