Federal Government Resolves 20-Year MMA2 Concession Dispute

The Federal Government of Nigeria has successfully resolved a 20-year concession dispute concerning the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2). This resolution, achieved at the Federal Executive Council level, is expected to enhance investor confidence in public-private partnership (PPP) projects within the aviation sector.

Kuku, a key figure in the discussions, emphasized the importance of ensuring that future concession agreements are structured to protect both government and private sector interests. The resolution of the MMA2 concession row is seen as a significant development for local and international investors, providing a clearer framework for future investments.

Kuku also called for a strategic approach to aviation financing across Africa, advocating for the establishment of dedicated aviation financing institutions to address the continent's infrastructure gaps. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is focusing on stabilizing airport operations in the short term while planning medium to long-term infrastructure upgrades, including enhancing cargo facilities and safety systems.
