Katsina State Budget Ministry Reports 49.99% Performance

The Katsina State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, represented by Malik Ana, disclosed a low budget implementation performance of 49.99% for the 2025 fiscal year during a press conference held on Thursday by Deputy Governor Faruk Lawal. Among the 44 ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs), the Katsina State Scholarship Board recorded a performance rate of 49.61%, while the Katsina State Audit Service Commission reported a 0.00% performance rate.

The ministry's performance is concerning, as it indicates a reliance on federal account allocations (FAAC), which constitute 87% of the total recurrent revenue for the state’s 2025 budget. This dependence raises risks for the state’s fiscal position and underscores the urgent need for diversifying revenue sources to enhance fiscal resilience and reduce vulnerability in the medium-term fiscal plan.
