2026: ADC Vows To Wrest Power From PDP In Osun

Former interior minister and secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, has expressed confidence in his party's ability to win the 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun State. Speaking at a 60th birthday party for former speaker of the state House of Assembly, Hon Najeem Salam, Aregbesola stated that the party's victory was confirmed by God and nothing could hinder it.

University lecturer Shola Omotola highlighted the challenge of indiscriminate party switching in democracy and recommended legal sanctions to curb unnecessary defections. Professor of Political Science at Federal University Oye Ekiti, Wale Egbedun, suggested reforming political parties to emphasize internal democracy.

The current speaker of the Osun Assembly, Wale Egbedun, congratulated Salam on his birthday and praised his contributions to the legislature. He also emphasized the importance of holding the house firmly in history.
