SDP Leader Advocates for Grassroots Governance in FCT

Adewol Adebayo, the presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), called for a renewed commitment to grassroots governance ahead of the 2026 Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council elections. Speaking at a campaign rally in Gwagwalada, Adebayo stressed the importance of addressing local development needs and holding elected officials accountable.

He noted that the creation of the FCT administration in 1976 aimed to provide equal access to infrastructure and opportunities for all Nigerians, regardless of social status. Adebayo identified key challenges facing residents, including irregular electricity supply, inadequate potable water, poor road networks, and insecurity.

He urged voters to prioritize candidates who demonstrate proven service rather than those who rely on ethnic, religious, or financial inducements. Khalid Bala Gano, the SDP chairmanship candidate for Gwagwalada, expressed optimism about the party's chances in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the need for improved healthcare infrastructure and security in satellite towns.
