SDP Candidate Alleges Life Threats Ahead of FCT Elections

Obinna Simon, known as MC Tagway, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) chairmanship, has raised concerns about threats to his life, particularly targeting non-indigenes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the elections. During a media briefing over the weekend, Simon condemned these threats, describing them as dangerous rhetoric aimed at intimidating voters.

He claimed to have received a video showing APC stakeholders threatening anyone who votes for the SDP or the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating they would be forced to leave. Simon plans to share this video on social media to alert security agencies and emphasized that his family would hold the APC candidate accountable for any incidents.

In response, Kingsley Madaki, a senior special assistant to the APC candidate, dismissed Simon's claims, asserting that no threats were made during the party's campaign and urged candidates to focus on campaign issues rather than inflammatory statements.
