Osun Muslim Group Urges Peace Ahead of Gubernatorial Polls

The Osun State Muslim Community (OSMC), led by President Mustafa Olawuyi, has advised against violence in the lead-up to the August 15 governorship election in Osun State. During an interaction with Najeemdeen Folasayo Salaam, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) gubernatorial candidate, Olawuyi condemned recent reports of political violence in the state.

He urged the Muslim community to prioritize safety and to shun violence, emphasizing the importance of focusing on campaign messages rather than hate speech. Olawuyi also appealed to politicians, particularly gubernatorial candidates, to ensure they fulfill their campaign promises.

He praised Salaam's previous tenure as Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, highlighting his commitment to good deeds. Salaam outlined his agenda for the state, which includes improvements in the economy, education, agriculture, infrastructure development, and welfare for civil servants, particularly for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities and the downtrodden.
