First Flight for 2026 Hajj Leaves Sokoto with 485 Pilgrims

The 2026 Hajj exercise commenced with the first flight leaving Sultan Abubakar III International Airport in Sokoto on June 14, carrying 485 intending pilgrims. The flight was organized by the Sokoto State Hajj Committee, chaired by Alhaji Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi.

The pilgrims were flown via an Aquilin aircraft owned by Umza Airlines directly to Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah. Governor Ahmadu Aliyu, represented by Deputy Idris Muhammad Gobir, assured that the state government would make necessary arrangements to ensure the welfare and security of the pilgrims.

He emphasized the importance of good behavior and discipline during the pilgrimage, urging the pilgrims to offer fervent prayers for themselves and the nation. A total of five flights will be conducted to transport 2,404 intending pilgrims from Sokoto State for this year's Hajj exercise, with arrangements in place for smooth operations, including 24-hour service and various subcommittees assigned to oversee logistics.
