2026 Hajj Inaugural Flight Set for May 3 from Abeokuta

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced that the inaugural flight for the 2026 Hajj will take off from the Gateway International Airport in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on May 3, 2026. This marks the first time that pilgrims from Ogun State will depart from their state capital for the Hajj.

The flight will be operated by Max Air, with additional flights for pilgrims from Abuja, Kogi, Nasarawa, Lagos, and Oyo states. NAHCON's Deputy Director, Fatima Sanda Usara, informed the public about the arrangements, including that an advanced medical team will also depart ahead of the pilgrims.

Pilgrims are advised to be aware that airlift operations will be conducted in zones, and those who miss their scheduled flights will face consequences, including waiting for the next available flight. Furthermore, pilgrims must travel strictly in groups of 45, and it is essential for them to familiarize themselves with their group members and obtain contact details of their group leaders prior to the journey.
