NAHCON: Only Medically Fit Pilgrims for 2026 Hajj

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has declared that only medically fit pilgrims will be permitted to travel for the 2026 Hajj. This announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of the National Medical Team for the 2026 Hajj exercise.

NAHCON's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Ambassador Ismail Abba Yusuf, emphasized the importance of health safety for Nigerian pilgrims, stating that they must obtain medical clearance from certified doctors. The commission will implement additional screening stages at departure centers to ensure compliance with health protocols mandated by the Saudi Arabian government.

Random checks will be conducted by Saudi authorities, and any pilgrim found medically unfit upon arrival will be repatriated. Dr.

Ibrahim Abubakar, head of the National Medical Team, assured that comprehensive screening measures will be in place, including the use of electronic medical record systems for real-time monitoring. NAHCON aims to ensure quality healthcare and compliance with Saudi health regulations throughout the pilgrimage.
