NAHCON Mandates Medical Fitness for 2026 Hajj Pilgrims

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has declared that only pilgrims who are medically fit will be permitted to perform the 2026 Hajj. This announcement was made by NAHCON Chairman Ismail Abba Yusuf during the inauguration of the principal office committee for the upcoming pilgrimage.

The commission aims to implement tougher health measures to safeguard the health and safety of Nigerian pilgrims in accordance with guidelines set by the Saudi Arabian government. Pilgrims must confirm their medical fitness through a clearance form issued by a registered doctor from the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).

Those found medically unfit upon arrival may be sent back to Nigeria, and officials failing to comply with these regulations may face sanctions. Additionally, a final verification process will be introduced at departure centers to ensure compliance.

Ibrahim Abubakar, head of the national medical team, pledged commitment to these new measures.
