Nigeria's Falconnets Begin Camp in Poland for U-20 World Cup
Nigeria’s U-20 national team, known as the Falconnets, commenced their preparation for the 2026 U-20 Women’s World Cup on Monday, with their training camp located in Trzebnica, Poland. The team, under the leadership of coach Moses Aduku, arrived in Poland on Sunday afternoon and is staying at Hotel Trzebnica until September 3.
A significant addition to the squad is Benfica Ladies striker Janet ‘Semenya’ Akekoromowei, who joined the team directly from her base in Portugal. Her inclusion is considered a major boost for the Falconnets, especially since her Portuguese club had previously attempted to prevent her participation in the World Cup.
The tournament is set to begin on September 5, with Nigeria scheduled to start their campaign two days later against Spain.
