Nigeria's Flamingos Prepare for U17 World Cup Qualifiers

The Nigeria U17 women's national team, known as the Flamingos, is set to play two friendly matches this weekend as part of their preparations for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup qualifiers. The matches will take place against a local side at the Nazareth Queen Gold Project Pitch in Abuja on Saturday and Sunday.

Head coach Akeem Busari has invited 36 players to the camp for the first phase of preparations, currently housed at the Serob Legaci Hotel in Abuja. These friendly matches are expected to help the team build sharpness and assess player fitness ahead of the crucial qualifying fixtures.

Nigeria will face Guinea in the second round of qualifiers, with the first leg scheduled to be held in Conakri between May 22 and 24, 2026, and the return leg taking place in Nigeria on May 30, 2026.
