AAP Demands INEC to Deregister NDC Ahead of 2027 Elections

The African Alliance Party (AAP), led by Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the National Democratic Congress (NDC). AAP claims that the NDC was deceitfully registered and does not meet the necessary criteria for political party registration.

The party's National Executive Committee (NEC) authorized legal action against INEC regarding this matter. AAP's statement highlights that the NDC was not among the 14 pre-qualified associations and failed to upload required documents to the INEC portal.

The call for deregistration was made during a meeting in Abuja on February 17, 2026, where Prof. Joash Amupitan, the chairman, emphasized the need for credible and transparent electoral processes.

AAP argues that deregistering the NDC is essential for sanitizing the democratic system in Nigeria.
