Isaac Fayose Claims Peter Obi Will Win Abuja in 2027

Isaac Fayose, a social commentator and businessman, publicly disagreed with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, regarding the political landscape in Abuja ahead of the 2027 presidential election. Fayose asserted that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), would secure victory in the FCT, countering Wike's claim that the opposition would find it challenging to defeat President Bola Tinubu.

Wike had previously indicated that the 2027 election would be easier for Tinubu due to the weakened state of the opposition and expressed confidence in his political contest in Rivers State. Fayose criticized Wike's assessment, stating, “Abuja is NDC, Abuja is Peter Obi,” and suggested that the ruling party might resort to manipulating election results.

He emphasized the need for strategies to prevent electoral manipulation and called for public opinion polling similar to practices abroad. Obi had previously won the FCT in the 2023 presidential election against Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission.
