Afenifere and Northern Groups Endorse SDP for 2027 Elections

On a significant political shift, Afenifere, the Arewa Consultative Forum, and the Northern Elders Forum have jointly endorsed the Social Democratic Party (SDP) during a high-level meeting held in Ilesha, Osun State. This gathering brought together influential stakeholders from across Nigeria, including representatives from 19 northern states and state chairmen of the SDP.

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the national leader of the SDP, highlighted the importance of a diverse coalition, describing it as a unifying force capable of addressing Nigeria's pressing challenges. He emphasized that the SDP's aim is to secure power through the ballot, stating, "We will not snatch, we will not grab; the people will put us in place." The event featured prominent figures such as Oba Oladipupo Olaitan and Murtala Aliyu, signaling a strategic alliance between major northern and southern groups that could play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of Nigeria's 2027 general elections.
