Adebayo Re-elected SDP Presidential Candidate for 2027

Adewole Adebayo has emerged as the presidential candidate for the Social Democratic Party (SDP) for the 2027 elections, following a consensus arrangement at the party's national convention held in Bauchi, Bauchi State, on Saturday. The convention was endorsed by Prof.

Sadiq Gomb, the national chairman of the SDP. Adebayo addressed the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, criticizing the perception of laziness attributed to them due to prevailing conditions.

He warned against a drift towards one-man rule and stressed the necessity for a vibrant multi-party system in Nigeria. Adebayo also commended Governor Bala Mohammed for allowing the convention to proceed without disruption.

The convention's theme was "Build People's Coalition, Secure Homeland, Defeat Poverty," reflecting the SDP's commitment to providing an alternative leadership platform. Usman Bugaj, chairman of the national convention committee, highlighted the challenges faced by the country, including insecurity and unemployment.

The newly elected national working committee includes Ugochukwu Uba as deputy national chairman and Olu Agunloy as national secretary.
