Akpabio's Aide Urges Youths to Reject Political Thuggery

Dauda Makama, the legislative aide to the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, along with the National Youth Council of Nigeria and other stakeholders, warned youths against being used as thugs by politicians ahead of the 2027 general elections. This warning was issued during a political sensitisation programme organized by the Bajju Youth Catholic Organisation at Wusili Tourist Hotel in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna State.

The programme, themed “Youth Participation in Politics: Opportunities and Challenges,” attracted various political actors and youth leaders. Makama stressed that youths should understand their rights and not allow themselves to be exploited for selfish political ambitions.

He noted that while political leaders often maintain cross-party relationships, grassroots supporters are sometimes left to fight among themselves. Ambassador Sheyin Wakili, Coordinator of the National Youth Council of Nigeria in Chikun Local Government Area, described the programme as timely and called for issue-based politics.

He warned that youths engaging in electoral violence would face consequences from security agencies.
