Ambode Backs Hamzat's APC Candidacy for 2027 Election

Akinwunmi Ambode, the former governor of Lagos State, publicly congratulated Obafemi Hamzat on his emergence as the APC's consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election. In a press release on Thursday, Ambode described Hamzat as a true party man dedicated to the ideals of unity and progress.

He reiterated his commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, expressing confidence that Tinubu's vision for Nigeria would lead to prosperity. Ambode highlighted the importance of mobilizing votes for the APC, aiming for at least three million votes in Lagos for Tinubu.

The endorsement of Hamzat followed a unanimous decision by the Lagos APC's Governor's Advisory Council (GAC), which met on Tuesday. The council, led by Chairman Tajudeen Olusi, resolved to purchase Hamzat's N50 million governorship nomination form.

Hamzat, who has served as deputy governor since 2019, acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed readiness to serve.
