ADC Claims APC Fears Free Elections Ahead of 2027

Abdullahi, the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), expressed concerns that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is afraid of losing the 2027 general elections due to their fear of free and fair electoral processes. He emphasized that the APC's actions threaten democracy in Nigeria.

This statement was made via a post on Wednesday, coinciding with discussions in the House of Representatives regarding amendments to the Electoral Act. The House had previously agreed on the need for real-time electronic transmission of election results, which was a contentious topic during the debates on the Electoral Act amendment bill for 2025.

Lawmakers engaged in a heated session, particularly over a clause concerning manual transmission of results, which was argued to undermine the credibility of technological advancements in the electoral process. The motion to remove the manual transmission clause was defeated during a voice vote.
