APC Screens National Assembly Aspirants for 2027 Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun the screening process for National Assembly aspirants in preparation for the party primaries scheduled for May 15, 2026, for House of Representatives candidates and May 18, 2026, for Senate candidates. Hon.

Afuy Idowu, a chief party member from Ekiti State, has submitted a petition to the party's National Working Committee (NWC) requesting the disqualification of Senator Cyril Fasuyi, who represents the Ekiti North Senatorial District. Idowu's petition is based on an assessment of Fasuyi's performance, which he claims does not align with the party's ideals and the hope agenda.

Idowu emphasized that Fasuyi has not sponsored any significant legislation beneficial to the people of Ekiti North during his nearly three-year term. Additionally, there are allegations against Fasuyi regarding harassment and misconduct, which have led to legal actions.

Despite these issues, the NWC has yet to disqualify him, pending the outcome of the primaries.
