APC Disqualifies 105 Aspirants for Kwara Assembly Elections

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified 105 aspirants seeking the party's ticket for the Kwara State House of Assembly elections in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections. The screening exercise took place at the APC secretariat in Ilorin.

A total of 158 aspirants had obtained nomination forms, but only 53 were cleared to proceed. Among the incumbents, several lawmakers from Kwara South failed to secure clearance, including Hon. Ganiyu Folabi Salahu and Hon. Owolabi Olatund Rasaq.

In contrast, lawmakers from Oyun Local Government Area, including Deputy Speaker Hon. Ojo Olayiwola Oyebod, successfully passed the screening. Notably, Hon. Issa Gideon, currently suspended due to allegations of misconduct, is uncertain about contesting for a second term.

The screening committee, chaired by Prof. Success Musa, noted the high number of aspirants reflects the growing popularity of the APC in Kwara State, which currently has 24 members representing constituencies across 16 local government areas.
